1. BRIDGE STUDENT/TEACHER GAPS: Connect with fellow sociology students, faculty, and professors. We offer mixers and events open to all students and teachers of all disciplines. Past events have included Student/Faculty mixers and faculty-supported events.
2. POST-GRAD PREP: Get the needed knowledge for graduate studies in sociology or any related field. Every semester, we offer a graduate school workshop to sharpen your application. Our professors and students are enthused to offer their assistance. Our goal this semester is to re-mold SSA as a venue for post-grad preparation.
3. EXPLORE CAREERS: Discover how to utilize your sociology degree to your best advantage. Find career opportunities and connect with future employers. We offer resources in exploring your ideal career. Our professors will offer their students with future assistance: Dr. Barnes will offer a Sociology Jobs Workshop in October (more information TBA).
4. GAIN NEEDED EXPERIENCE: All employers and grad-school admissions committees search for experienced candidates. Whether volunteer or paid work, people of leadership look for individuals whom are connected with what they love to do. By offering leadership opportunities, academic enrichment, and organizational tasks, SSA assists sociology students with maximizing their education at CSULB.
5. ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT: In order to better our world, we learn and discuss sociology. A key factor behind this are the lessons we learn in the classroom. However, this information can only go so far without practice and consistency. We offer venues for table-talks, mixers, study groups, film screenings, and discussions. (Learn more @ iCULTURE).
